    Genus Description - Plants small, green, yellowish, or brownish, shiny. Stems ascending, simple or branched, densely terete- or complanate-foliate. Leaves erect to spreading when moist, concave, lanceolate, acuminate; margins subentire; costae 2, extending to the leaf middle or above; upper cells smooth, long-rhomboidal to linear, indistinctly differentiated at the margins. Setae smooth or ± roughened at the apex; capsules erect and symmetric, oblong-cylindric; annulus none; operculum conic, rostrate; exostome teeth papillose, not furrowed; endostome segments keeled, papillose, from a low basal membrane, the cilia none or rudimentary. Calyptrae ± smooth, naked, laciniate at base.
