Large herbs, 3-4 m tall. Leaf blade entire, often frayed, ca. 100 X 55 cm. Fruits first green, then yellow or red, seedless, edible. Cultivated but occasionally seeming to be part of the native flora. Bacove (Creole), banana (English), banane (fruit), bananier (plant) (French).
