Description:Species Description - Herbs, to 4 m tall; ligule 5-10 mm long. Leaves narrowly elliptic, ca. 30 X 10 cm, both sides villous, the adaxial surface glabrescent with age. Inflorescences terminating leafy stems, ovoid, 6-10 X 4-5 cm; bracts red, 30-40 X 30-40 mm. Flowers opening toward inflorescence axis; calyx purplish red, 7-12 mm long; corolla pinkish red, 45-60 mm long; labellum pinkish red, tubular, 25-30 X 20-25 mm.

Distribution and Ecology - Fl (Jan); on wet rocks in forest at base of rocky wall on south side of Pic Matecho.
