Description:Species Description - Herbs, 0.5-1.2 m tall; ligule 1-2 mm long, provided with long hairs. Leaves dark green on adaxial side, red-purple on abaxial side, narrowly elliptic to narrowly obovate, 13-22 X 3.5-7 cm, puberulous to glabrous. Inflorescences terminating leafy stems, broadly obovoid, 3-4.5 X 3-4.5 cm, to 6.5 X 6.5 cm in fruit; bracts green, chartaceous, 14-15 mm long, densely puberulous. Flowers opening away from inflorescence axis; calyx green, 22-25 mm long, densely puberulous; corolla white, 50—60 mm long, densely puberulous; labellum creamy white, spreading, 35 X 40 mm, the margins densely fimbriate; basal part of labellum and stamen joined into slender tube 20 mm long.

Distribution and Ecology - Fl (Apr, Aug, Oct), fr (May); found in secondary vegetation on road to airport and in non-flooded forest near streams, from 300 to 400 m. Canne congo.
