Distribution and Ecology - Apparently on soil; Jalisco (Rio Blanco, Guadalajara, Pringle 10557, type; also, according to Cardot, Etzatlan, Lozano).-Endemic.

As described above. Endostome fully adherent.
I have not been able to confirm Cardot's observations that, in S. pringlei, each segment becomes split into two parts each adhering to an adjacent tooth and thus appearing to form a narrow, sinuose border. Insofar as I could see the segments are very delicate and irregular in outline but not bifid. In Georg Roth's manuscript drawing of material he no doubt got from Cardot (in herb. MICH), the endostome is shown fully adherent rather than split, just as I saw it.
