Description:Genus Description - Plants very small, simple or forked, scattered to loosely tufted. Leaves few, crowded, oblong-lanceolate to ovate or obovate, acute or acuminate, mostly hair-pointed; margins revolute, generally entire; costa ending below the apex to long-excurrent, with a single, dorsal stereid band; upper cells subquadrate to hexagonal, pluripapillose on 1 or both surfaces or smooth, the papillae scattered, hollow (and often appearing C-shaped in optical section); lower cells lax, thin-walled, smooth, rectangular. Perichaetial leaves not much differentiated. Setae very short, often curved; capsules immersed to shortly exserted, sometimes paired, ellipsoid to globose, bluntly apiculate; operculum and peristome none. Calyptrae minute to medium-sized, cucullate or rarely mitrate.
