    Genus Description - Plants terrestrial. Rhizomes short and erect or short and creeping, covered with numerous scales. Fronds alternate on rhizomes, suberect or arching, monomorphic, 1-5-pinnate, rarely simple, the blades glabrous or pubescent with stellate scales, ± glaucous beneath, often glandular or farinaceous; petiole dark, often shiny; pinnules sessile or petiolate, often articulate; veins free, reticulate, or furcate. Sori marginal, at ends of ultimate veinlets; false indusium formed by inrolled, membranous margins of blade.
