Description:Species Description - Stems 5-15(-30) cm tall, with spreading pubescence, at base with cataphylls 6-10 mm; stipules 10-14 X 4-7 mm ; petioles 2.7-6.2 cm; leaflets 2.0-4.4 x 0.6-1.2 cm; peduncle 1.3-4.8 cm; rachis 1.0-3.0 cm, with 4-9 nodes, internodes to 12 mm; bracts elliptic, ovate or spatulate, 8-11 X 3.5-4.5 mm ; pedicels 2.5-3 mm; flowers 16-24 mm ; beak of fruit shorter than calyx teeth.
Distribution and Ecology - Grasslands and open woodlands, often where rocky, in Rolling Plains, Cross Timbers and Prairies, and Blackland Prairies vegetation (Correll & Johnston, 1970) of north-central Texas. One collection reportedly from Ft. Riley, Kansas (E. E. Gayle 477, NY) , and one from N e w Mexico (C. Wright s.n., GH ).
