Description:Distribution and Ecology - General Distribution. Puerto Rico, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Guadeloupe.Distribution in Puerto Rico. Known in its typical form from but a single locality. Rio Grande: Siena de Luquillo, "in monte Jimenes," 17 Jul 1885, Sintenis 1770 (US). This specimen was determined as var. tenera by Christensen. Further material of this entity should be sought.Habitat. Rocky non-calcareous banks in wet forest at middle elevations (probably 350-500 m), very rare.

Basionym. Goniopteris tenera Fee, Mem. foug. 11:60, t. 15, fig 3. 1866.

Type. L'Herminier in 1861, from Guadelopue (RB, fragm. SJ; isotype IJ).

Syn. Nephrodium asplenioides var. tenerum (Fee) Jenman, Bull. Bot. Dept. Jamaica n.s. 3:211, 1896, with regard to name.
