Type: Bory from Mauritius (P; isotypes B, FI, as cited by Pichi-Sermolli, Webbia 12: 676. 1957).
This species, widely cultivated in the West Indies and sometimes escaping (Jamaica), has often wrongly been called Adiantum caudatum; the latter is a similar and closely-related plant of India.
