Discussion
L. scoparius var brevialatus Ottley (1923); Hosackia glabra subsp brevialata (Ottley) Abrams (1944). Though varying in size, the keel of Lotus scoparius var brevialatus is always prominent. The variety seems clearly marked except possibly in Los Angeles co where specimens include, in addition to both varieties in typical form, plants with a long keel but flower size of var scoparius.
