Monographs Details: Lotus mascaensis Burchard
Authority: Isely, Duane. 1981. Leguminosae of the United States. III. Subfamily Papilionoideae: tribes Sophoreae, Podalyrieae, Loteae. Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 25 (3): 1-264.
Family:Fabaceae
Discussion:An ascending small shrub resembling Lotus sessilifolius but leaves with a short leafstalk, and the upper not sessile; calyx pubescence said to be longer than that of L. sessilifolius. Tenerife (Canary Islands); endemic to a single valley. Pe-drosia. Reported by several authors (e.g., Doty and Johnson, 1954; Mathias and McClintock, 1963). No U.S. material seen. Specimens and reports of Lotus mascaensis are referred to L. sessilifolius. Possibly L. mascaensis is no more than a local ecotype of L. sessilifolius.
