Monographs Details: Sophora gypsophila var. gypsophila
Authority: Isely, Duane. 1981. Leguminosae of the United States. III. Subfamily Papilionoideae: tribes Sophoreae, Podalyrieae, Loteae. Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 25 (3): 1-264.
Family:Fabaceae
Description:Distribution and Ecology - Mexico, Chihuahua, local on gypsum flats near Coyame.

Discussion:Turner and Powell (1972) and Rudd (1972) cite only the type collection, and the protologue corresponds well with that collection. I have seen two others from the same vicinity (Powell et al. 2112 TEX; and Northington et al. 743 ARIZ). The latter specimen differs from the type in that the leaflets are mostly elliptic or oval and 1.8-2.2 r, not “predominantly suborbicular.”
