  • Discussion

Neptunio pubescens var. floridana (Small) B. L. Turner N. pubescens var. lindheimeri (Rob.) Turner N. manzatlana Britt. & Rose N. floridana Small Texas to Florida. Texas: moist to dry sandy soils, native and ruderal, especially roadsides, April-June (Sept.). Florida: open pinelands or pine-palmetto scrub, often near ocean, roadsides and other ruderal areas; sandy to coral soil. March-Aug. South America. I have reviewed South American as well as U.S. material of this variety and, as Windier (1966), am unable to discern any significant difference.
