Discussion:C. glabellus is the sole representative of sect. Elutheria within the area. So far it has not been recorded from Brazil, but one specimen, Krukoff 4832 ([male] fl, NY) , Embira, lat. 7° 30' S, long. 70° 15' W , Amazonas, Brazil, seems to belong to this species, although the scales on both sides of the leaf-blade are sparingly developed. With no [female] flower and fruit available, the identification remains doubtful.
