Description:Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. Savanna marsh or streamside plants, known certainly only from the Rio Guainia region of Venezuela. VENEZUELA. Discussion:The original collection, Spruce 3046 consists only of diminutive specimens that may be depauperate or immature. The larger body of material, under the name of Rapatea circasiana, may indeed represent a more prevalent expression of the same species. At this time no satisfactory resolution can be made as to the degree of intimacy between the two.
