  • Discussion

Camp’s collections (E-3303, E-3329) from the canyon of the Rio Chanchan, 5 km north of Huigra, Chimborazo, represent a southward extension of the species range; the species had been known previously from Tolima, Cauca, and Nariño in Colombia, as well as Pichincha in Ecuador. In E-3303, the inflorescences are more lax than usual, with twenty 6-petaled and five 5-petaled flowers being counted; E-3329 is the more typical form with compact dichasia on ascending inflorescence branchlets, although (as also in E-3303) having the outer leaf nerves less distinctly developed than usual.
