Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. This subspecies occurs in the southeastern portion of the range of subsp. montana. VENEZUELA. Amazonas, Cerro de la Neblina: frequent in openings and open woodlands, vicinity of Summit Camp at alt. 1800 m, Maguire, Maguire d Wurdack 42108,^^ abundant in savannas of West Escarpment at alt. 1700-1800 m, Maguire, Wurdack d Bunting 37166, occasional in open woodland, escarpment overlooking Canon Grande, alt. 1650 m, Maguire, Wurdack & Bunting 37209, savanna. West Escarpment at alt. 1750 m, Maguire, Wurdack & Bunting 37151-A; Cerro Huachamacari: S W escarpment at alt. 1850 m, frequent, Maguire, Cowan d; Wurdack 30289 d 30290, summit, East Ridge No. 1, at alt. 1820 m, frequent, Maguire, Cowan tO Wurdack 30077, occasional along West Escarpment at alt. 1800 m, Maguire, Cowan d Wurdack 30219; Bolivar: Salto Ichun, 4° 46' N and 63° 18' W , on uppermost sandstone bluffs in shade, Steyermark 90226.
