Discussion:The peduncle, in the monograph described as to 0.3(-0.6) cm long, is sometimes to ca. 1.5 cm long in staminate inflorescences, as in western Colombia and Ecuador, in Amazonian Peru (Loreto, Madre de Dios) and in Brazil (Acre), and for pistillate inflorescences even to 2.5 cm long in material collected in Amazonian Peru (Loreto) and Brazil (Acre and Amazonas). The axillary spurs usually remain short but may sometimes become to 1.5 cm long, as in some large-leaved collections from Colombia (Valle), e.g., Cuatrecasas 16629.
