Discussion
The collections Dik 256, Gentry 12423, and R. Vásquez et al 14137 have leaves much narrower than normal, the stipules are often shorter than 4 cm, and the staminate inflorescences have short peduncles. They could represent a hybrid between subsp. acanthogyne and subsp. guianensis.
