Discussion:The inflorescences tend to be subsessile rather than entirely sessile as typical for the genus. A short, to ca. 1.5 mm long, bracteate peduncle can sometimes be detected. Subsessile inflorescences appear to be most common in the northern part of the range of distribution. The montane and submontane subspecies and the lowland subspecies can still be distinguished as distinct entities, although the morphological differences are becoming less clear.
