Discussion
Piptocarpha oblonga subsp. oblonga (Fig. 21) is recognized by its showy, axillary, globose, sessile, glomerules, when flowering and fruiting, and by leaves that are usually elliptic to ovate, dull grayish green above, cinereous-tomentose below. It is distinguished from subsp. lepidota by its smaller florets and achenes and its Central Brazil Plateau distribution.

Distribution
This subspecies is found in the Central Brazil Plateau in the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás. It grows as climbing and/or sprawling shrubs in forests and is most easily observed along the margins of gallery forests. Elevation is from 1100 to 1400 m. Flowering and fruiting occur from Jul to Jan.
