    Species Description - Shrubs to 1.5 m tall, the young stems densely stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades 2-3 x 1.2-2 cm, ovate, truncate to cordate, remotely dentate or crenate, rounded-acute, somewhat discolorous, soft-pubescent; petioles ca. ¼ the length of the blade or less; stipules 3-6 mm long, subulate, erect. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, the pedicels ca. 1 cm long in flower to ca. 2 cm long in fruit; involucellar bracts 8-9, linear-lanceolate or weakly spatulate, 12-15 x 1.5-3 mm (distally), stellate-pubescent; calyx 10-12 mm long, sparsely pubescent; corolla 2-3 cm long, narrowly tubular, salmon-colored (drying reddish); staminal column ultimately exserted, pallid, glabrous, the filaments 1 mm long; styles pallid with reddish stigmas. Fruits 8-9 mm diam., oblate, minutely appressed-scabridulous, more or less 10-ribbed; mericarps relatively woody, 6-7 mm high.

    Known from two collections in central Mexico in the state of Mexico.
