Description
Species Description - Shrubs 0.5-0.75 m tall, the stems coarsely ferruginous-pubescent, the hairs stellate, 1 mm long. Leaf blades lance-elliptic, mostly 3-6 (or larger?) x 1-2.5 cm, basally truncate, serrate, acute, palmately 5-7-nerved, with coarse stellate hairs (1.5-2 mm diam.) evenly spaced on both surfaces; petioles 5-9 mm long; stipules subulate 4-6 mm long. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, the pedicels 2-8 mm long; involucellar bracts 5, lanceolate, 8-9 x 2 mm, densely stellate-pubescent; calyx 7-9 mm long, densely stellate-pubescent; corolla rose-pink with red center, ca. 1.5 cm long. Fruits subglabrous; mericarps 5 mm long, reticulately rugose.

Discussion
As the name suggests, Pavonia rubra has reddish flowers.

Distribution
Known from the Provinces of Corrientes and Misiones, Argentina. The type locality is at 27°18'S, 55º30'W.
