Description:Latin Diagnosis - Chamaecrista portoricensis (Urban) Cook & Collins var. atlantica Irwin & Barneby, var. nov., a var. portoricensi foliis longioribus, majoribus (juxta flores) 4-6 (nec 1.5—4.5) cm longis, foliolisque suis magis numerosis 12-16 (nec 5-8, raro -10)-jugis diversa.

Species Description - Lvs as described in key; pod 5.5-7 mm wide.—Collections: 2.

Distribution and Ecology - Serpentine outcrops ±10-100 m, known only from the vicinity of the type- locality near the Atlantic coast of Dominican Republic in Espaillat.—Fl. IX-III certainly, very likely whenever active growth permits. DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. Espaillat: locally common on serpentine roadside embankment ± 10 m alt., ±7.5 km e. of Gaspar Hernandez on road to Río San Juan, 22.II.1979 (fl, fr), H. S. Irwin & A. L. Wolff 37316.


First discovered, in fruit only, by A. Liogier in 1969.
