Distribution and Ecology - In campo, sometimes at edge of thickets or in low-lying places, mostly below 300 m, apparently replacing var. diversipila in n.-e. Argentina (Misiones and Corrientes).—Fl. XII-II(-?).

Discussion:

SYN: A. setistipula sensu Burkart, 1948: 189, fig. 33S; non Bentham.

The var. subglabriseta was collected somewhere in Corrientes by Aimé Bonpland (s.n., P), many years before Balansa discovered the typical variety in Paraguay.
