Family:Mimosaceae
Discussion:7. E. monjollo (Vellozo) Bentham (Mesquita, 1990: 159, figs. 31-33). Mesquita separated this species from the preceding by characters of puberulent, not glabrous leaflets, and auriculiform, not circular or recurved pods. We find that the leaflets of E. maximum are as often as not finely puberulent beneath, and it is embarrassing that Vellozo illustrated the pods of Mimosa monjollo as recurved through more than a full circle. For the present the disjunction in range between Amazonian and Atlantic forest seems the most practical criterion.
