    Species Description - Shrub or small tree, glabrous; thorns to 1.6 cm long. Leaves obovate, apex obtuse or retuse, rarely truncate, base broadly attenuate, 1.5-4 x 1.5-2.2 cm; petiole 3-5 mm long. Inflorescences usually 2-6-flowered umbels or cymes, rarely solitary flowers; peduncles 3-5 mm long; pedicels 2-4 mm long. Flowers functionally unisexual, the 5 not yet known. Sepals 4, glabrous to sparsely ciliate, 0.50.8 mm long. Petals 4, oblong, bearded inside to within 1 mm of apex, 4.5-5.5 mm long. Stamens 8; filaments 2.5 mm long; anthers 1.5-2.5 mm long. Ovary of functionally [male] flowers obspathuloid, 2 mm long; style absent. Drupe oblongoid, a little quadrangular, 2 cm long, 1.2 cm diam.; seed ellipsoid, 1.6 cm long, 0.9 cm diam.
