Description:Variety Description - Branchlets rusty-tomentose, hairs somewhat erect. Leaves as in var chocoensis, hirtellous along midrib and pilose with scattered erect simple hairs on the intercostal part of the upper surface, softly tomentose on the undersurface (stellae with long erect hairs, sometimes only 2-3-rayed or reduced to simple hairs).

Distribution and Ecology - Known only from the Mutis collection made in Colombia between 1783 and 1808.
