Discussion:This is a putative hybrid between S. mahagoni and S. macrophylla which shows intermediacy in all characters between the two parents and combines the characters of faster growth, better form and increased drought resistance. It has now been reported to occur in Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Trinidad. Also in the Far East in Taiwan and Indonesia, and always where the two species are growing in close proximity.
