  Species Description - Heads small, the pistillate invols 5–7 mm; consistently sexual; diploid or tetraploid; otherwise like a small and delicate form of A. neglecta var. neodioica. Mainly shale- barrens; w. Va. and e. W.Va. to Pa., but also to Ky. and s. and e.c. O. Apr., May. (A. neglecta var. argillicola)
