Description
Tree fern with trunk to 3½m long, 7cm thick, fronds to 2.5m. Leaf bases with brown ramentae, petiole including leaf base 82cm long, cross section: [see label for drawing]. Leaf lamina bipinnate, 2m long, pinnules 9 per side, terminal pinnule 30cm long, lateral ones 40cm long at base 60cm long in centre and 30cm long at apex of lamina just below terminal pinnule. Ultimate leaflets from 10 to 12cm long, 2cm broad except in penultimate pinnules which are 5 to 7cm long and 1.5cm wide. Only one pinna fertile. Leaflets shiny green above, less shiny and paler below, with venation visible as darker green. Petiole and rhachis brown below, pale green above. Sori pale brown. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
