    Guyana. N-W facing slopes of Mt. Roraima, vicinity of Camp 6 (near the end of the 'Waruma Trail'). ca. 1ml. N of the 'prow'.

  • Habitat

    On sandstone rocks/boulders, often with little or no other vegetation, but humus covered. Soil a humus-rich sand, over parent sandstone rock 4-6" down. Montane rain forest, with some canopy openings. Canopy 50-80 ft. Many small trees and shrubs below, including palms and tree ferns. Moderately dense ground layer incl. many ferns. Epiphytes common, inc. Anthurium roraimense, Philodendron, and bryophyte cover to 6" thick. Common.

    Discretely tufted, but with subterranean connecting rhizomes. Leaves dark green, aching, dull. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
