Description
Pileus 4-8 cm broad, convex to plane, dry, appressed squamulose, dark brown on the disc, yellow brown toward the margin, becoming yellow brown over the disc and yellow toward the margin with age, sulcate at the margin for about 2 cm. Flesh 2-3 mm thick, watery brown, with mild to fragrant odor and mild taste. Lamellae adnate with a subdecurrent tooth, close to subdistant, amber yellow (4B6) at first, more cinnamon brown with age, with even margins. Stipe 7-11 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, equal, strict or curved, fibrous, pale yellow to brown, fibrillose striate, with distinct flaring pale yellow annulus and discrete floccose pale yellow cortinate zones, frequently with pale yellow basal tomentum, with brown interior, becoming hollow.
