Habitat
Campo cerrado (a type of scrubby woodland originally) on the upland, or very rarely forest. open marsh or dense secondary forest ("mata") along the streams. This habitat: open marshy field along west side of brook. Moist black mucky soil.

Description
0.7-1.1 m. tall, erect, single-stemmed or slightly branched above. Fls. 2.5 cm diam., petals rose-violet, also filaments; anthers pale yellow. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
