Peru. Cajamarca. Jaén Prov. Northern side of village of El Espino, in open scrub vegetation. At Km. 70 (=Estación 9) of the Olmos-Jaén hwy. turn north onto dirt rd. to San Felipe-Sallique-El Espino (29 kms N of hwy.).

Habitat
Vegetation of Clethra, Roupala, Lomatium, Cantua, Dodonea, Vaccinium, Bejaria, and Lamiaceae.

Description
Terrestrial shrub to 1.5 m tall, with stem base to 3" diam. Leaves small, revolute. Corollas pale greenish to green suffused with rose-red. Capsules brown. Infrequent at site. [Plants pretreated with EtOH.] [DNA; pickled; photos].
