stem The stems of this shrub are used for rafters
in the roof of a traditional house; they are also
used to fold coconut leaves over to make thatch.
stem Stems are used to make bows for hunting,
peel the bark off and bend the bow. Use aerial
roots of Ficus for the string.
stem Young boys make a toy spear from this
stem-split the ends on one side and sharpen the
end on the other-used to practice hunting for
when they get older, to sharpen their aim and
skills.
stem To harvest kava, take the stem, sharpen one
end and use to dig up the roots.
N.B. This is considered the “white” leaf variety
and mjb 4777, also Acalypha grandis, is consid-
ered the “black” leaf variety.
