ASTERACEAE
BASTROP CO.: rays bright white; common in herbaceous
“sandhill” vegetation in deep, moderately well drained,
neutral to slightly acid fine sand (Patilo Series, Grossarenic
Paleustalfs) in old cleared area on nearly level to gently
sloping upland underlain by Eocene sand, at 90° turn in
unpaved road, immediately N and W of Hoppy Spring, ca.
0.8 airmiles SSE of jet. St. Rt. 21 and F. M. 1441 NE of
Bastrop, at N30°08'26.1”, W097°13’15.5” and eastward.
Bastrop State Park. Smithville NW Quadrangle. Elev. 456-
470 ft. Area lightly burned during Bastrop Complex
Wildfire of September 2011.
Associates included Argemone sp., Aristolochia erecta, Brazoria truncata,
Chaetopappa asteroides, Cnidoscolus texanus, Descurainia pinnata, Evax
Candida, Gaillardia amblyodon, Gamochaeta purpurea, Helianthus debilis,
Heterotheca pilosa, Hymenopappus artemisiifolius, Hypochaeris glabra,
Mimosa (Schrankia sp.), Monarda sp., Oenothera laciniata, 0. mexicana,
Opuntia sp., Paronychia drummondii, Phlox drummondii, Plantago
hookeriana, Rumex hastatulus, Senecio ampullaceus, Spermolepis
