BASTROP CO.: petals 4, pink; occasional but conspicuous
in mostly herbaceous wetland vegetation on soils mapped as
deep, excessively drained, slightly acid fine sandy loam
(Sayers Series, Typic Ustifluvents), upper edge of floodplain
of small perennial stream, foot of sandy slope underlain by
Carrizo Sand, W side of Alum Creek floodplain ca. 300-500
ft. downstream from (SW of) crossing of Hoppy Spring
Tract road, ca. 1.3-1.4 airmiles SE to SSE of jet. St. Rt. 21
and F. M. 1441 NE of Bastrop, at N30°08'07.9”,
W097°12’51.3”. Bastrop State Park. Smithville NW
Quadrangle. Elev. 400-410 ft. Area lightly burned during
Bastrop Complex Wildfire of September 2011.
Vegetation dominated by Dichanthelium scoparium and Eleocharis
tortilis. Other associates included Cyperus cf. virens, Cyperus 30742,
Diospyros virginiana, Eragrostis hypnoides, Hypericum mutilum, Juncus
diffusissimus, J. effusus, Oldenlandia uniflora, Persicaria sp., Paspalum
urvillei (rare here), Ptilimnium sp., Sesbania vesicaria, Steinchisma hians.
