logging road (NFD 087), 0.6 mi SE of Store Gulch
campsite, S side Illinois River. Elev. ca. 1500 ft. Siskiyo
National Forest. Klamath Mountains (Siskiyou Mtns.)
Ecoregion. Rather shallow soil over and among
serpentine outcrops and gravel. Steep bluffs above river
Dry, mostly evergreen forest with Pinus, Pseudotsuga,
Calocedrus, Umbellularia, Arctostaphylos, Ceanothus,
Garrya, Quercus, Lithocarpus, Toxicodendron. Commo
tree ca. 10m tall, bark smooth, cinnamon-color, peeling
in patches on older trunks; twigs very pale green. Fruits
green, immature, in pendulous clusters; inflorescence
buds forming; leaves leathery, glossy dark green above,
pale beneath.
