Disturbed deciduous woods on slightly sloping ridgetop,
with Quercus alba, Carya ovata, Cornus alternifolia.
Shrub 4 m. tall, with slender central stem and whorls of
horizontal branches. Inflorescences held erect, the
inflorescence branches reddis. Fruit mostly gone, green or
slightly dull purple.
