Malvaceae
Shrub with closed yellow flowers which are covered with ants.
Specimens with green fruits as well.
Orange Creek Settlement, along a dirt road that goes to the "North Side"
(Atlantic side), north of the Sea Spray Hotel. Found in a culitivated area
along road, with much standing fresh water around it and Stemodia
maritima dominated scrub.

The plant is commonly cultivated for it's edible fruits. Not previously
listed as occurring on Cat Island (Correll & Correll, 1982).
