Specimen Notes
["Dalea formosa is said by Torrey to have been collectd with this species '[o]n the Platte.' Dalea formosa, however, was not collected on the Platte, so it is not at all certain where James collected Dalea aurea. To judge by its known range, the collection could have been made in any of the five states through which James traveled from June through August." fide Goodman, G. and C. Lawson. Retracing Major Stephen H. Long's 1820 Expedtition. University of Oklahoma Press, 1995.]
