  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Referred to map "A Rapid Biological Assessment of Lely and Nassau Mountains Suriname" (pg. 59) from "A Rapid Biological Assessment of the Lely and Nassau Plateaus, Suriname (with additional information on the Brownsberg Plateau)" for further locality information of the mountain range (Alonso, Leeanne E., and Mol, Jan H., A Rapid Biological Assessment of the Lely and Nassau Plateaus, Suriname (with additional information on the Brownsberg Plateau) (2007), RAP Bulletin of Biological Assessment Vol. 43, https://library.conservation.org/Published%20Documents/2009/43_RAP_Bulletin.pdf, accessed: 4/22/2014). Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the southwestern plateau of the Lely Mountain range in Tapanahony, Suriname. Used the reference map and Google Maps - Terrain and Earth Views to locate the southwestern plateau of the Lely Mountains of Suriname. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the southwestern plateau. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the southwestern plateau (using the Terrain View to determine). Input coordinates, linear extent (5090.0 m), measurement error (5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Defined Area).
