Baccharis glomeruliflora Pers.

Staminate

Wakulla County: dioecious shrub. Occurring in
abundance on the banks of man-made dikes thread-
ing the marshes of St. Marks National Wildlife
Refuge, the parts of either side of the road
leading to the lighthouse. Some plants commonl:
associated: Baccharis halimifolia, Salix
caroliniana, Ilex vomitoria, Zanthoxylum clava-
herculis, Ampelopsis arbórea, Sabal palmetto,
Smilax bona-noc, Myrica cerífera, Andropogon
glomeratus var. pumilus, Eupatorium serotinum,
Oenothera aff. biennis, Monarda punctata, Muhle.
bergia capillaris, Solidago sempervlrens?-

Note: On the aforementioned dikes, B. glomeiu-
liflora and B. halimifolia grow intermixed. At
the time the former has its flowers at full
anthesis, the latter has the, fruit.s fully matur
and being shed, the staminate heads dried up an
shattering.
