  • Description

    Pileus 3-6 cm broad, convex to plano-convex to plane, dry, velutinous, dark brown to nearly black, rugulose. Flesh white, staining pink with change of latex, up to 1 cm thick, with mild odor and taste. Lamellae adnate to subdecurrent, subdistant, white at first, then pale ochraceous, not marginate, with white copious latex, staining pink. Stipe 2-10 cm long, 5-10 mm broad, ±equal, dry, heavily pruinose to subvelutinous, concolorous with pileus but white at base; interior white becoming hollow, staining as in pileus. Phenology of specimen: Basidiomata.
