Danthonia sericea Nutt. Downy Oatgrass.
Fairly common in sand on rt.-of-way, Salters
Mill Rd., ca. 7 (air) mi. SW of Americus, Sum-
ter Co. Spikelets pallid, an off-white tinged
with green and cream-colored hues. Herbage
generally light green. Associates included
Spermoleois divaricata. Berlandiera oumila
(one early fl. seen), Amsonia ciliata. Bapti-
sia lanceolata (infrequent), Stipa avenacea.
and Vulpia octoflora. Close by was dry scrub-
land with a preponderance of'young oaks: Quer-
cus laevis. incana. Q. nigra. and marga-
retta. Repl. 5•
