U.S.A., Florida: Gainesville. Common in depression (old riverbed) in shade of Magnolia grandifolia and Acer negundo. Rhizomes running, culms scattered throughout woods, the largest ca. 3m tall. Most plants in flower or past flower, and dying or dead, although some vegetative plants also present. No culms close together but generally 1-2 m apart. Culms to 1.5 cm diam, dull green or purplish, somewhat shiny, quite smooth. Culms erect, slightly zig-zag. BOTANICAL Thomas R.
