Hartman Grenada Dove Sanctuary, 4.5 km S of St. George's. 12°00'N, 61°46' W 30 Small shrubby tree to 3 m height. Extremely thorny with slightly recurved paired spines. Leaves folded; upper surface - nerves and veins slightly yellow; lower surface - slightly glaucous, nerves yellow, all venation visible. Flowers: large pale creamy green calyx, all other parts white. Pods mid reddish-brown, valves slightly lignified. dehiscent, the valves twisting into lax spirals after opening. Very common, weedy in coastal thickets and pasture around dry scrub woodland with Acacia, Bourreria, Leucaena and Croton. (RHS colour code: Leaf upper =137A. below=137B) Hawthorne, W. D. & Hughes, C.
