Small shrubby tree to 3 m height. Extremely thorny with slightly recurved paired spines.
Leaves folded; upper surface - nerves and veins slightly yellow; lower surface - slightly glaucous, nerves yellow, all venation visible. Flowers: large pale creamy green calyx, all other parts white. Pods mid reddish-brown, valves slightly lignified. dehiscent, the valves twisting into lax spirals after opening. Very common, weedy in coastal thickets and pasture around dry scrub woodland with Acacia, Bourreria, Leucaena and Croton.
