Habitat
Secondary woods and glade on rock outcrop, dominated by Rhus typhina, Sassafras albidum and Ailanthus altissima.

Description
Small tree, numerous stems here clusted in grove, 3 m tall, the stems to ca 3 cm diam; bark pale brown, ± smooth, but the lenticels bumpy; sap clear; twigs light brown; petioles red; crushed leaves with peanut odor.
